Conductive Education in San Jose
Conductive Education (CE) in San Jose is the result of one family's search for a way to help their child, diagnosed with brain damage due to a premature birth. In their desperate search to help their daughter they found CE, a complex educational system that covers all aspects of development: physical, educational, social, emotional, communication and language. It focuses on the child as a whole, not on individual symptoms.
The founding family's vision was not just to help their child but to make CE available to other children who could benefit. This dream came true when the Conductive Education Center, an infant/toddler-preschool center, opened in March 1997. At that time there was one Conductor (teacher) and four preschool children in a single classroom. Through the CE program and the skill of the Conductor these children made awesome progress. Word spread and the Center grew. Soon the Center added two different programs for the younger children. We now had two Conductors, eight children and two classrooms.
By the end of 1997 the Center outgrew the original facility and had to move to another site with larger classrooms. By this time we had three Conductors, one aide and had served 18 children. Growth continued. During 1998, the Center served 28 children with 4 conductors and two aides. Again, due to size and facility limitations we had to find another home.
